What do actuators do?
Getting my GSL SE ready for the road, I noticed what turned out to be a pair of "actuators" on the passenger side of the motor, according to my shop manual. Each has a rod connected to linkage coming out of the block. One (LH) seems to be a bit stiff compared to the RH one when I try to turn the linkage. What do these do, and should they be easy to move by hand?
Thanks,
Mike
Thanks,

they open up your 5th and 6th intake ports off backpressure from ur exhaust once you get moving for increased air flow / more top end, & better bottom end when they're not in use...
i would pull them out and clean them and then run WD-40 though the tubes while the car is running and then put the hose back on and run it really good to make sure they are opening. if they are not opening it will feel like you kind of hit a brick wall when the rpms hit about 5000 maybe 4500. if that doesnt work let me know ill show you how to do something to get them to open up when you want very cool stuff the part of my exhaust broke off so i had to run it a different way

Good stuff, thanks guys, I'll do what Kim says and flush them out. They do not seem to be stuck as the little revs freely to the redline. These cars are fun, right?
