What to do.......

Hi, well i've decided to sell my series 4 and really want to get into a series 2 or something. Could someone please give me a quick rundown of the difference's between the 1's,2's and 3's.

My plan is to buy a rolling body (cheap) and paint it, fit a nice kit blah blah wheels etc.

The main problem is what to do about an engine.
Over here a 12a/13b brideport motor is about a grand what power do you normally get from those?

Other options include:
-A near standard 13bt
-save like a maniac and go for a T04 13bt
-anyone got a carby turbo setup?? suck or blow?? what sort of carb do you need?
-some guy i met is selling a rebuilt 12a turbo extended port , with a large Rajay turbo, external wastegate and stuff, carby, again carby turbo?? whats the deal with that.

Any ideas, info, links would be appreciated.

Cheers
Nick

Any of those options would be amazing.

I'm personally going for the "save and blow myself away with the fastest car on earth" plan. I'm aiming for 11's to start off with in the 1/4 mile.

Drop a 13Bt into a GSL-SE (Series 3, 84-85 Special Edition with bigger brakes, LSD, 4 wheel disc, beefier swaybars, universal wheel bolt pattern, etc)

To educate yourself on the year by year differences between series 1, 2, and 3, I not-so-modestly direct you to the following:

Seeing as you're in NZ isn't it customary to run a bridgy with a big webber?

Seriously though, just drop a near stock 13BT into a S2/3. It's heaps of fun, and can be improved on easily as funds allow.

You'll probably end up with a different diff and a brake upgrade on the front, so which series depends on what's available at the time of purchase and whether you're gonna roll on Simmons or not. S3 if you want a choice of wheels or S2 if you want Simmons, because... A S2 should be cheaper. I'm not sure what the noise laws are like over there, but where I am a S3 has to be 5db quieter than a S2, so that would sway my choice.
