what clutch do i need for my 12a SP with a lightweight flywheel
Hi all im looking to put this lightweight flywheel in my car with its stock 12a that i will be Streetporting. i was wondering what people are using to hold the power from an SP 12a. i know its not a stupid ammount of power but the clutch i have in there now barely holds stock plus the RB exhuast i have in it.
What are you guys running?
this is the flywheel im looking at for my 82 12a. it says it can be used with an 82 if i go with a 225 sized clutch. which i want to do since i plan on putting it on a PP 13b years down the road. would a standard clutch for a 13b s5 NA work here? i think that is pretty close in power outputs between an SP12a with RB exhuast and an NA 13b s5.

stock clutch will do fine if you drive the car normally. and maybe an occasional "enthusiastic" start. on the other hand, if you plan to abuse it regularly, then you may want to look into something designed for that sort of thing.
how old is it?
Center Force dual friction. I used these in my race car when I was running a stock port 12A on both OE and light weight flywheels. They are smooth and can handle high rpm shifts and aggressive down shifts.
I have a RB lightweight steel flywheel that used to have a centerforce on my 12a streetport, holley intake, rb header, etc... made 141 at the wheels. It did just fine, but a few (half) of the pucks were missing when it got taken apart last. It didn't even slip with all of those pucks missing. I have a stock replacement exedy ready to go on next.
If you were local I would just give you the pressure plate from the centerforce, it's just sitting on my shelf gathering dust. Haven't looked, but I would guess you can get replacement friction discs. I still have the old disc for reference.

at 189 RWHP in that configuration . Also ran the same behind BP 12A's and many others .... these clutches and pressure plates never let me down ever .
