Question what can i get?

I have an 1981, i plan to buy an 83. i am going to sell it because i blew the apex seals and the engine is done for anyways. I was just waiting for it to go. it has the back seats which is rare and the interior is in exlt. cond. while the exterior has the typical litte nicks, etc. what do you think i can get for it as a parts car? i was thinking maybe $400. is that too much?

You'd probably get more parting it out

For example, if the interior is the same as an '83, I'd just LOVE to buy the dash from you. But, if you're really wanting to sell it as a whole car and lose just a BIT of profit, try starting it out at $500?

How bad do you need a dash? I have a perfect Black one from and 81.

Parting it takes a long time, but would end with about $300 to $500, If it looks good then $400 would be good, assuming the title is good.

the years 79-84 are the same. the upholstery is leather and black suede. its practically new! but the dash has craks from the sun, so you probably want to get it from the other guy.

Um no the interior style changed in the '84-'85.

Actually I think they changed in '83.

So you are looking at '79-'82 being the same, and then '83-'85 are the same

IIRC this interior change was in North America only.

The whole dash is MUCH different. form '79-'82 to the '83-'85

The 79 to 83 Dashes are the same style, With only a few differences in the way they bolt in, The 84 and 85 dash is compleatly different but should be able to be bolted in.

Anyone wanting the 81 Dash I have, PM me and we will discuss.

I used to work at a local Mazda Dealership and I always am pulling apart 1st gens for parts so I feel i can add my 2 cents here. 1978-1983 are relatively the same, a novice would not notice any differences. The 1984-85 is completely different as some of you have pointed out. Yes, you can fit a 84-85 dash in an older car but you will have to do some mods for it to bolt down. You may be familiar with the 2 10mm bolts that hold down the 84-85 dash on the sides near the a/c vents, just in front of the door jamb. Well those bolt hole son the 84-85 do not line up with the older cars. I have attempted to do the swap a couple of times with friends but out of laziness never have gone through with it. Its possible, just figure it out.
