go to www.mazspeed.com

click on "Ultra Garage"
click on "Race Q&A"
Click on "Race Carb/Fuel Injection Questions"
adjust it so it shows all topics (not just past 60 days)
look for a topic "Carbs vs carbs vs carbs vs fuel injection" down around December 26, 2000

Have fun reading!

Love the Dellorto, hate that crappy RB manifold. But once you hook that Dell up to a Lakecities or similar manifold... very nice !

Weber 48mm IDA all the way! The carb of choice for all serious rotary racers.

POST A POLE

Some one should post a poll naming all the types, and brands, of carbs even if they are discontinued! Because I only know the common ones like Ida , and dco/e and stuff like that. Make them state the size, like 36, 40, 44, 48, 51, 54 ect, ect..... Could some one do that? I don't know all the types but hopefully soon to learn LATERZ,
Andrew

You'd probably have everybody voting for their favorite carb and every poll option would have one vote (except for four or five people who won't color between the lines, and say "FUEL INJECTION!"

My favorite is the Autolite 4300, but only because I have FAR too much experience with the ol' Autolite. Kind of a pain to take apart, and jets are not available for it, and you're not going find one anywhere but a 70's Ford V8, but it was a very slosh-friendly carburetor thanks to its central float bowl. Flowed more than enough air for my 429

While I do like the simplicity in working on fuel injection. You can't really tune it.

You pop in a chip with a fuel map and go... Computer does EVERYTHING for you.

For a carb, you've gotta get under the hood, play with jets, mixture, adjustment screws, floats, needle valves. In the process, you get all gas smelly and flammable, plus you get all greasy and have to use lots of tools and stuff...

Sounds like fun.

Uhh, no, you sit with a laptop (or commander) and set injector duty cycles and such...

Don't get Mazda Racings manifold either. God what a POS, I spent so much time porting that thing cause the casting inside was terrible.

Only if you inherited a small fortune and picked up an aftermarket EFI system like Accel or Electromotive...I think pele is talking about yer basic stock Mazda EFI system. Does it have a port or flash memory that can be reconfigured or do you need an aftermarket chip? If I had the disposable income, I'd love to tune by injector size and mapping on my PC or my brother's TI-issued mega-laptop...

Well, technically no one makes a chip for them either, so youre changing injector duty cycles and such with a S-AFC or something

UberBling?

I agree... it just seems so un-car-guy-like to whip out a laptop or a handheld doodad to tune the engine... naw, gotta do it the traditional way, with jets and pump cams and adjustment screws and wrenches and sockets and gettin' dirty swapping stuff between rounds and ARR ARR ARR ARR...... *ahem* excuse me

I have the Dellorto and the lakecities manifold and like it a lot but now that I am working on my 13B is there a better manifold for it? The RB U shaped manifold is the only one I have ever seen for it.

It's a six port, but I am not looking to sell my LC manifold just yet. I want to wait and see what I'm going to do with my 12A first.

Then just buy the upper section of the RB manifold (~140$) and it will bolt right up to your 6 port manifold . Makes for a very nice setup.

The RB manifold has two 90* bends in it. It is not a bad manifold but is not a great manifold. The LC is a very nice manifold, it is straight thru. When you have a good carb on it and it is dialed in it is a great manifold. I was just wondering if any one has seen a
LC type manifold for a 13B.
