I ran across something similar when rebuilding my carb on a SA-- It's probably an emissions solenoid of some sort. Use the plug shape and the wire color to identify it in the wiring diagram.

I don't recognize that as a stock part. Due to it's size, I'd venture a guess that it's a fuel pump. Where did you find it?

its in the vacuum hose family it runs from the sub zero fluid to the bottom male and the top male runs to the carb.

If its a new part and the parts number is visible on the sticker attached, post that and it can be cross referenced....

yeah that's the part number on the tag, but it was just kinda sitting by the oil fill so wtf?

more on this later, back to the carb cleaning

If that's the part I'm thinkiing of, the stock 79/80 unit looks a bit different (chromated sheetmetal solenoid housing with a black plastic valve assembly.)

Here's mine (I painted it); 80 SA CA ratsnest.



I wonder if that's not a late equivalent substitution when the original parts went LNA?

that looks very similar, maybe I'll find the female connector down that way, but then again yours is a California mines everywhere else and yours is 80 mine is 79, though I'm sure very little changed.
