What is it?

The other day, me and Ian were 'trimming down' my carburetor (yeah, IanS), and we came across this doodad. We have no clue what it is, and were wondering if one of you carburetor gurus could tell me/us?

If it isn't necessary, It's sure as hell out of here!

that's the secondary actuator. it can be removed IF your using mechanical secondaries AND if you block the vaccum port that makes it work. but if your not using mechanical secondaries this MUST be hooked up.

Is Ian in New Mexico for the holidays? Or are you here in Iowa? Or are you doing it virtually? Just curious.

I was down there for New Years. It was a cool trip, the whole 22 hour drive. I made it back in less time though.

Is the vacuum port that makes it work behind it? Where is this port at that needs plugged? A pic would be the most helpful.

the only nikki I have is here at work and no cam here.
BUT it's not that hard to find the port it's on the front side of the carb. (closest to the radiator) on the main body just below where the top unbolts kinda where the float bowl area connects to the main throttle body.
there will be 4 holes the top one is threaded the second one isn't and the bottom 2 are. you need to plug the 2nd hole.

So y'all get the doodads and thingamabobs hooked up properly:

Jay - haven't been following your saga much recently, but does that car even run? Last I knew, it didn't start and now you're messing with the carb?
