Exclamation What the ?!?!

Okay, I just opened my hood on my '83 and took the air filter off of my Holley carb. Turned around talked to my friend looked back down and gas is just gushing out of the primaries for like 5 seconds. I didnt touch anything nor did my friend. The car has set for over 3 hours. What the hell just happened? It freaked the hell out of me and was wondering if anyone else had experienced this?

I don't know why, I fed them today.

Honestly, has no one had this happen to them?

Yeah, I know what it was doing, but I want to know why. This is the first time this has happened. I was was just looking at the carb and the thing was just spraying fuel in the intake. I didn't touch a thing, no one was in the car and the car had been parked in my garage for 3+ hours. It's was just as if I manually opened the primaries, but I didn't do anything.

LOL..my car has never seen 92+ octane, I think it would die. It's like being a Pepsi and Coke drinker. Yeah, it was gushing out, it just happend out of the blue. The end result was flooding. As for the fule pump....it's didn't turn on. (You can tell when that damn thing is one. It's loud as hell.) I think maybe my problem is that the "lil workers" have multiplied and are running out of room in the engine so they are moving to my carb.

Must have changed the temperature of the intake air thus resulting in your choke reopening or something, I don't ******* know, lol.

Check your float levels, mine did the same thing. Also check your Accel pump.

I'll double check them when I get home, but it's been a couple of months since I've messed with them. It's not done this before. *scratches head*

Could be a combination of needle and seats not sealing properly, float level too high, and/or fuel pressure too high. I should know, I've got all three going on right now. If it ever stops raining, maybe I'll get a chance to fix it.

P.S. Two words: GROSE JETS.
