looks like a custom fabricated oil separator.... it's routed to the larger catch can, usally it'sused on forced induction cars to relieve crankcase pressure.... i cant believe he's still has a points style distributor!

Looks like a replacement for the carbon canister to me, note the vacuum lines going to the tank vent and oil seperator tube.

Ya-but, look - it has a site gauge...

Think it might be some kinda homemade oil injection system?

By golly, you're right. I hadn't noticed the fluid level gauge. The mystery deepens...

I'm not sure what the canister is but it is a right hand drive car so it could be a vacuum canister.

geez guys, to me it looks like the fat bit on the filler is an oil/air seperator, and the big canister with the sightglass is just an oil catchcan.

oil air seperator is to ventilate the crankcase without blowing oil all over the engine bay, usually the oil mist is sucked into the induction and burnt, but not good for power.

and the level guage would be so the owner knows when to empty the oil catch can so it doesnt overflow.

It looks like one of the blue lines goes to the tank purging line.
