Well... she's dead

At about 3:45 on Sunday I nailed the guardrail on I-40 just west of Greensboro, NC in the 7

Didn't realize how slick the conditions actually were (had been driving for awhie) combined with the falken tires and I was toast. I changed lanes normally at about 60mph and as soon as I moved out of my lane I was sideways.

At least no one was hurt and no other cars went down with me.

I'll miss her.

I know its fixable.... but I paid around $1000 for my car and it will cost a hell of a lot more than that to fix it.

perhaps. what are you going to do with it? it would make an excellent donor car if the engine is good. perhaps you could put that drivetrain into another 7.

No, I wasn't cited. I called the HP, they just made sure I was ok and didn't need any medical assistance.

The car is currently sitting at a body shop in Greensboro waiting to be evaulated. I would really like for it to end up in the hands of another RX-7 owner as a donor vehicle. The motor only has about 106k on it. and the interior is in great shape, LE wheels, etc.

The body shop? The estimate is free, the problem is just getting it out of their pakring lot.

that is a ******* shame to see that car like that!! if you have the space, part it or sell it whole. perhaps if you really like it, you can fix it little by little. or part it to afford your next 7.

Yeah, ideally I would like to park it somewhere and part it out. I can't do it at my aparment in Richmond and there is no way my mom would let me keep it at my parent's house, lol.

i hate to say this, and i'm not trying to make light of your situation, but it's "only" a series 2 GS. straight, clean specimens of that model are common enough to be able to replace it without much hassle.

if you had a place to do it, i would find a no-go GSL and swap your motor in.

that is a good idea. however, we'd all have to consider sentimental value

That is to bad. Looks like it was a nice car. I was out there sunday. We got about 3 inches on the west side of greensboro. The week before superbowl it snowed out there. As I went west on 40 leaving W-S going to Georgia there was a car wrecked every two miles. Most did the same thing you did. Switching lanes to fast with a large pile of slush in the middle.

Is the Garage charging you for storage? Looks like it would still run and would be driveable. CJF is out there in Greensboro and parts cars. I might could do something with it if the price was right. I will be in Greensboro again the weekend after next.

Really sorry to hear that. At least your ok, and the car is salvagable (for parts). Hope you stick with 1st gens even after this.

Let me know if the post mortem report calls for selling her. I'm not too far away and I could use a whole parts car on hand.

Well guys the garage is supposed to look at it tomorrow morning then after that I figure I've only got maybe a couple days to move it before they start charging me something.

At this point selling her is looking like the course of action. Hades or Tom, yall can hit me up on aim if you want, my handle is "VFighter".

I tried to crank it up after the accident but it wouldn't do it. That was actually my first reaction, I tried to start her back up and drive away.

cpt: I know exactly what you mean, don't worry I'm by no means losing sleep over it. I'm very glad I was in this car and no my miata or someone else's car. I loved my car but when I look at it the bottom line it was a $1000 car and can be replaced.

The guy in the cube next to me put in his two week notice. We had him cleaned out before the first week was up.

I guess your saftey relay worked..... it kills the fuel pump when you wreck, or when the relay wiggs out... so if your pump is dead, check that relay first...

under the driver side dash, by the gas pedal is a really small relay....

take a short wire like 3" long... strip each end and either shove it in the hole, or put male connector ends on it...

I dunno if its on 81-83's, but I know an 84/85 has it....
