Well, is this intake gonna work???

I was told this intake is useless....... I have about 3+ hrs into grinding on the ****............ I want to know, is why would it be worthless??? I just cut off the place where the acv, and heat exchanger tube went..... It will be simalar to peejay's intake that was on WT!!! At first I was goin to get rid of all the lumps in the secondaries, and make it where I dont need an ACV block off plate..... But then decided what the hell, why not just cut it off..... so I did...... and it only has 2 holes on the flange, where that carb goes, that I am wondering about..... I am pretty sure, that peejay, just left them open.... so I guess I will to....... I think it will work, what do you think???

This is a 1980 intake....... I cut the part off, to make it look nicer...... I have some more grinding to do to it, then comes the Jb weld, and more grinding....... So, is it gonna work???

I have an 83 header, and gonna run a straight pipe to the stock muffler, and get rid of all the emmsisions stuff for simplicity.... then I am gonna go direct fire, and mechanical secondaries, like sterling write up says......

So, is it gonna work, or did I mess up???

THANX, LATERZ, Andrew

Andrew, seriously, it looks like poop right now, but you are still learning. I am actually proud that you have taken things into your own hands and decided to try it yourself.

You have no experience in "making" or modifying parts, so not much is expected. Look at Peejay's manifold, and he has 100X your experience. But that's the only way to learn.. through trial and error.

Back in the early 90's when people told me I couldn't re-wire an 85 dash into an 81 car, I took that as a challenge. Sure it took me weeks to get it right, with bare wires everywhere, losing control of the Power Windows, etc. But I did it. I learned soooo much from that experience, that next summer I wan installing alarms, car stereos, and other gadgets left and right.

Keep it up and don't despair, it doesn't have to look pretty, it just has to run right.

well........ that little bit about not having much experience.... well... um..... um..... I got ALOT of it.......

Car wiring, and body work, is EASY for me, but body work is BORING........
Engine work, I am learning ALOT about....... I have reabuilt a few engine, with some friends........ 351 cleavland, 351 windsor, 302 windsor... um.... thats all.....

I stoped working on the intake, cause I havent been able to find my dremel, and my friend hasnt been working at the shop much So , all thats holding me back, is not having access to tools But it WILL be done by the end of this week........

Then I can start on the fiberglass projects, that I need to get outa the way..... Like the front piece, and dash....and possible shrouds for v8kilr's light kit, if he is still wanting them....
Then I got some metal projects, I will spill my guts about, when I start makin them......

So, I have expierence........

I really need to know if it is gonna work LOL

Trust me, you do not want to make it look like my intake... My latest project is working to make the '83 intake look and work like a '79-80 intake!

All I see is an intakes outside with some grind marks. Lets see the gasket side too. Thats what matters. Also the top looking down where the carb sits.

like I said, its NOT done YET I will show you when I finish it within one week.... I just wanted to know, if it would work, with the holes on the top flange, where the carb goes, with the ACV bolt up spot gone.... look closly on the top flange.... do I just need to leave them open?

I think you could still save that intake. Just smooth out the mess, block off those holes with some JB weld...don't touch the ports or the carb side though.

oh man!!!! I just cant type, with what my plans are...... I can tell you by word of mouth, but I cant type it...... IIEE IIIIEEE IEEEEE................ DAMNMIT.... Ok, I will try.....

I am gonna USE THE INTAKE........ I am gonna smoothe out the lines, and do some certain temp painting on it....

I am gonna cut all the lumps out of the secondary ports...... then jb weld.... and grind smooth...... I just want to know, is if you see where the holes are, on the TOP FLANGE, where the carb sits on it...... If you do, should I leave them unplugged, or should I jb weld them... if you know what they do, tell me....... THANX, LATERZ........ hopfully people understand this write up
