weird light in dash.

I have this light on in my dash. The lettering is far from legible but what I can see it says something like overheated exhaust or something. It just recently came on. Please help.

Overheated exhaust means you are running lean or your cat is clogged. Don't ignore it. Check your spark plugs. If they're bright tan/whitish, then your engine is running too lean. This can be caused by a dirty fuel filter, fuel pump going bad, or carb issues.

If your engine doesn't rev freely at high RPM in any gear, then your catalytic converter could be clogged. Replace with a new cat or straight pipe.

It is actuated by a sensor tha is bolted to the floor under the driver's seat. It was originally installed to monitor the external catylitic converter temperature on the main converter. It is of no consequence that the light is currently on. I would unplug the connector and forget about it at this point. No reason to have it with a V8 in there.

That'll do it too... if you swap a rotary back in it'll turn off.

It is called an "idiot light," after all...

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

The swap has been done for years. It just came on at the track. Oh well. Not a big deal then.

Don't pull the bulb. Unplug the connector under the driver's seat.
