Weight of my 85 GSL? answer inside.

found a scale late last night and weighed the pig.

things of mention before I get to the numbers, just so anyone else could visualize their own numbers with their own mods.

-I was inside the car and weigh 160 pounds
-16 gallons of gas (full tank)
-50 pounds of random interior **** I could take out in five mins if needed.
-glass sunroof
-lsd disc rear end
-cusco strut tower bar
-large diameter sways front and rear
-full size + style spare in the hatch
-ac removed
-equipped with alarm /power locks
-Cloth interior

Total weight of 2,680, give or take 20 pounds. I bounced up and down inside the car and it changed to 2,660 so somewhere close to that. Going to take my turbo their once I have the diff figured out and see what it weighs, most likely more.

it was found at a gravel quarry spot where dump trucks are filled then weighed I guess. I just went in the gates after hours and drove up on the scale, the scale never turns off, even after hours I suppose.
It was a price every first gen could afford. FREE haha, just an estimate but it should weigh 2,400 without gas/myself and random stuff inside. Still pretty light.

My friend weighed his 1993 FD also, mostly stock with himself inside (150 pounds) and it was 3040 pounds, not sure of his fuel load. His 88 z28 camaro weighed 3380 just for a comparasin.

Sounds about right for an S3 GSL.

My dad told me that he once got his '77 Corolla weighed with him, his friend, a mostly full tank of gas, and two people's-worth of camping gear and it came in at a hair over 2000 lbs. Now that's light.

Thats the beauty of a first gen. They drive like a go cart when you put a turbo in them.

People are always telling me my S model weighs less than a GS or GSL. I wonder how true that actually is. Maybe we can organize a weigh-car day.

Oh, and Percent, does the GLC really weigh 1800? I think it's a little more.

Any of you local guys feel like weighing yours cars we can roll over to the spot I found. Its pretty isolated and inbetween kenmore and bothel. Lemme know it would be interesting to know what the weight difference is between teh models. To be perfectly honest my 85 is a true GS but I swaped the gsl disc brake rear end so I just call it a gsl. Cause that is really the only difference between the models as far as I know.

Yea I can't see the S models being that much lighter. The big weight savings would be the lack of sunroof...
Interesting to see an actual wegith. Wish I had a scale around here to weigh my turbo FB.....

Does it have power windows? If so, it probably weighs the same.

Jeff,

As far as I know that is true. To my knowledge, the heaviest 1st gens are the 84-85 GSL.
