WE suspension rattle

I got an 84 SE about a yr n a half ago. Car had worn front shocks when I got it. Did basic tune up stuff n drove it anyway. Had fun. This spring decided to fix front end. Took it to a shop for the shocks, didn't have tools for the job. They messed alot of stuff up. 50 yards from their driveway front wheels seized up. Since then I've replaced control arms, with ball joints, n tie rod ends, wheel bearings, etc. Car drives strait, feels good. But when I hit bumps, I can feel/hear rattle in the front. When I Jack it up, I can push the wheels down about half inch. Everything is nice n tight. Also alignment triangles on top of shock r pointed n very different directions. Took it apart several times to move the triangle to all positions, no change. Could the springs b so collapsed, that it would cause this? Or am I missing someting? Is there a "stock" position for those triangles? Also nylon nut @ the top of shock was a little loose. I tightened them up as much as I could, it reduced the play a little. Any input is appreciated, thanks

Sound like they may have foobarred the strut cartridge installation. I would pull it apart and
check everything and reassemble making sure to torque everything down correctly when you do.

Those triangles on the tops should both point in and to the rear of the engine bay for max
caster and camber if memory serves me right. Check the FSM here to make sure Foxed.ca.

The strut cartridge was moving up n down n the housing. With the "retaining nut", threaded all the way n. I got an o ring that fit 'into the nut. As a "spacer",problem solved
