very hot/red headers.

hey,
i just took my 12a out of winter storage, and my starter stoped working, so i push started the car to start, just to make sure all was running well..the car was running for maybe 2 minutes if that, i popped the hood, and my headers were about to melt off, they where as red as can be and i could feel the heat standing over them. how would i find out if its a carb probleme or a cat problem?

Take the cat off, replace with a test pipe, and run it for the same length of time. If the problem goes away, it's the cat.

It's more likely to be a carb problem, though. Carbs go sour from sitting much more frequently than do cats.

So, this should officially be known as the "Paris Hilton" symptom... It's either rich, or it's retarded, or both.

I have the same problem on my 84 that I just finished swapping motors into. Its only the rear rotor doing it tho. Timming seems fine; but, I still have to check the wireing.

The new headers I put int he RX-4 had a Paris Hilton when the carb I tried was too rich. I swapped carbs and she turned into ____ (add name of a cool and collected chick; heh collected... get it?).
