Which header?

I'm looking to put a header on a bone stock 84' gsl w/12a. I know that Racing Beat & Pace Setter both make headers. Just wondering who uses what on their 12a and if anyone prefers one over the other? I'm looking at the RB "road race type" or the PC "high temp. coated" headers. The RB looks more equal length than the PC header. Will this make a difference? Does the high tem coating on the PC be worth the extra $$. I plan on dumping the cat and going straight pipe to the muffler.
Thanx for any replies

rb has the cat replacement pipe as well and also sells their headers as a kit as long as you can weld.....I'm going for the dual presilencer system

Another choice. Racers think their the best header made.

SDJ....never heard of them??? Where are they located? I have RB headers as well as Pace Setters dont really feel a significant difference in either.

Info is on the website. The header is an awesome piece. The new design is a little different than the web site photo.

looks like all the headers they sell are a collected header. For my new project im going with a racing beat road race header. The racing beat header is siimply a beautifly made header. Well worth the cost. They only complaint ive head about it is some people wisjh they runners would stick out more before they bent backwords.

Pace setter is a different story all together. ive head stories of the holes not being drilled right in the flanges, and countless stories of those headers rusting out. Plus they are not an equal length design like the racing beat one

Yeah, Stay away from Pace Setter! I had one in my FC, and I have now had to take it off due to cracking and leaks. They really are not very good or thick. The Racing beat header is far better from the ones I've put on friends cars. Don't get a pace setter unless you want a junky one- in my opinion. Really, the 12a one-which I got, sorry for getting it now, I chopped into a long tube header that is equal length and collects at the stock muffler's flange location. But it still isn't that good when I ran it with the bridgeport I had at one time. I personally use a stock manifold with a straight pipe back UNLESS you do a carb upgrade as well with a header. They don't make a difference otherwise to me.

What do you guys think of the Pace Setter mufflers? I saw the Racing Beat and another muffler on the Mazdatrix site, but they seem mighty pricey to the PC. Does anyone know if any of these are a straight through design? I'm not worried bout noise. LOL

use the RB road race header and run the pipes as far back as you can before you collect themit will help with the low end power a bit more.

or if you wanna stick with single pipes for now....get the streetable run that to a 20in straight pipe and then back on to the muffler but then later when you want dual etc.. cut the streeetable header at the collector and get a shop to weld on a rb dual flange thats what im doing untill i get the SP system and engine running good

I had a pace setter header on my 12A with a straight pipe exhaust (1 presilencer).

Let me tell you, the exhaust was fine. The header Didnt seem very good. Pace Setters are cheap. The runners arn't the same length. And they only come in a dual outlet, you have to make a 2 to 1 adapter. Racing Beat all the way.

BTW if anyone is interested LOL, I have a Pacesetter Header w/ Full exhaust if anyone needs a factory replacement and cant fork out $300 shells for an RB Header.

OK. So I'll get the RB road race header & RB 2n1 collector w/flange. Into a straight pipe all the way to a muffler.
I think I might try the PC muffler though, I like the "old school look" w/the chrome tips. Anybody out there know of any others worth looking at?
