The mold is polished and ready to cast the first upper. From there we'll be finalizing the design of the lower half, which should be relatively quick as the shape doesn't have to be as cosmetically symmetrical and perfect as the side everyone sees

You can paint CF. People seem to forget that.

went and inspected the mold today. What a work of art! Far behind schedule, but worth it.

The FRP hoods will be laid up in white gelcoat, suitable for sanding and painting any colour.

First upper skin is cooling in the mold - I hope to pull it for pics this afternoon.

 

don't lay it flat, stand it up on one end,left or right side. thats good news to hear.
did you guys apply the gel-coat with a sprayer or roller ?

yep its a mold if i ever saw one looks like the guy knows what he's doing thats for sure, can't wait to see one on my project car

 

yeah, it looks good to me too. again i gotta say it.. a composite hood is worthless if it's not lighter then a steel hood, don't forget to check fitment..

 

You should bring a few down to Silverlake ( Heeyyyy! ). Seriously, PM me whenever you're down here. Many rotorheads in the area.
