I am buying an 85 gxl tomorrow (maybe not) but anyway it has a ported 12a with 9k on it. Holley 600 carb and a straight body. 1350. What do ya think? are there any durability issues with a ported engine? what about that size carb? thanks alot

Must be a GSL. Sounds pretty good. What kind of port? Streetport should be OK.

if its a 85 gxl id be a bit cautious, im nto sure how familiar you are with the rx7 but the gxl was a model of a secodn gen rx7 and the secodn gen was only made between 86-91. the 1st gen is from 79-85 and did not have a "gxl" model for that year. althoguh there was a GSL

Look at your keyboard, The newspaper or the person selling the car mighta mistyped... X and S are nearby...

Damn though.. 9K on the engine... That's sweet. Find out who built it.

he says the engine is from corksport, he says he has the recipt. sorry typo gsl. i am just gonna drive it and check the rear supports at the shocks. if it doesn't lack power or have anything rotted out then i am gonna buy it. it is almost too good to be true. i have to drive 2 1/2 hours to get to her but anything for my first 7

GX
I have a 1982 Mazda RX-7 GX. The GX came with two little round badges[one for each side] positioned midway down the roof pillar behind each door window[fancy English eh?]The GX and GSL are identical in all other respects[ referring to additional GX badging]. GX=Canadian
GSL=United states
I hope everybody understands what I mean
On a further note I might add ,those badges look butt ugly and deserve removal for aesthetic/cosmetic purposes in my opinion.
