IN Value of a 1985 RX-7 S model

I recently acquired a 1985 from the 2nd owner who took great care of her since 1990. She has been garage kept her entire life. For the last 30 years she never spent more than a few days outside and NEVER in winter. She has 80,017 original miles! Everything Its either period correct, N.O.S. or original. She had not been started in the last 5 years before I bought her. Absolutely beautiful original red paint and the interior looks like it did when she came off the line. Just an incredible car! My question is, what is her current value? I had a great time cleaning her up and getting back on the road. As much as I like her, at 6' 6 inches I don't fit in her very well! lol I've seen prices all over the board, from $4,000 - $18,000. Pretty wide range! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Sounds very nice ! can we see pictures before giving you an estimate ... I’m no expert but I’m thinking it could be a $6,000 to $8,000 car ...

Condition, both mechanical and cosmetically factor into value. Your right that the values can vary 15K or more. General circumstances like factory hot rod versions (GSLSE) or early production vehicles and special models (LS, 10th A/E, 79 Limiteds) built in limited numbers are generally valued a little higher. S models with manual 4 speeds, generally a little less, same as the 3 sp automatics cars. You need pictures to even begin to formulate an opinion worth anything.

Need pics but from what you have told us I would say its a $4,000.00-$6,000.00 car. Its an S and has miles on it. Depends on condition and thats why we need pics. Get them of the engine bay, under the car, interior and we can make a better judgement. Look on bringatrailer.com to get a better idea of what the top dollar might be.

It's gorgeous. The only detractor,... It's an automatic. The engine bay could use a good cleaning, but I'd expect it will clean up nicely,

Beautiful car. There are not many left in that original condition! Good luck.

Thank you! The gentleman I picked it up from was in his mid 70's and he didn't know how to drive a manual transmission.( what a shame! )
The engine bay has the factory rust prevention coating in the whole engine bay since this car was sold in Northern Ohio. I don't think I can remove it without making in worse. I will probably respray the areas that have exposed paint. It's not on the firewall at least! Just on both fenders and completely under the whole body. I would like to get $8000.00 for it. I really want someone to enjoy this time capsule.

Put it on bringatrailer to get a wide enough audience to get that price. You might get it, who knows. I wouldn't mess with the undercoating at all. Its part of being original. Might devalue it in fact if you remove it. Very clean car.

please post in the correct section. cars for sale go in the classifieds section.

from the FAQ's classifieds guidelines:

- No "How much is this car or parts worth?" type threads. To determine this, do a basic scan on Autotrader.com, motors.ebay.com, or search the appropriate classifieds here to see what they are going for, etc. These searches will allow you to figure out what the average price is for a given car or part. Threads posted here asking our members to estimate the value of your car will be deleted.

all tho it is a really nice 7, it being an auto isn't that desirable. anyone here would probably convert it to manual. as mentioned, best way to get top dollar is to list it on bringatrailer.com. i'm guessing u purchased this with the sole intentions on flipping it for big profit, then come on here asking twice what u paid for it.

I agree, on top of converting to a manual most would also want to get a GSL rear for the LSD and disc brakes or a full SE suspension.

Are you listing on bringatrailer.com as well?

I had never seen or heard of that auction site. I think I will check it out. Mecum is headed to Indy in a couple of months and I might give that a shot as well. I do really appreciate all the help from everyone in this group. Once again, I did't even know THIS site was even here! When I bought my Corvette, I quickly was overwhelmed with offers to join their car club. Anyway, I REALLY want to thank everyone for their help and ideas! I also apologize for posting in the wrong ares.
