So I found this small hose in the rat's nest that didn't connect to anything ...so I plugged it. The car isn't really running right so I figured this might be at least part of the problem.

I looked for the hose in the FSM vacuum diagram, and just couldn't trace it.

I took a picture, but the angle was a weird one. The picture is taken with the air filter assembly taken off, from the passenger side.

I was hoping one of you guys could go take a look at your rat's nest and tell me where it goes!

Any info helps THANKS a BUNCH!

my rex is an 85 S model with the 12a stock everything.

I don't have any cars with rats nests still so I cant be of much help with your mystery hose, but if you ever need help in the Spokane area shoot me a PM.

+1 for rats nest removal. If you aren't required to pass emissions get rid of it. After its is gone you will wonder why you didn't think of this sooner

Ever think maybe he wants to keep his car stock..??? This isn't a thread on help me remove my rats nest. I mean ****... I think the nikki blows you don't see me telling him ditch your carb and get a dellorto when he's asking where a simple hose could go.

Whatever... If no one chimes in with any sort of help by tommorow I'll dig out a stock carb I have with all the emissions still hooked up that I been holding on to and see if I can help you out.

if you look at the manual, i believe for the stick shift cars there is an unused port on the vacuum rack, IE it SHOULD be open like that, its not connected to anything.

I have an 82 stock and have one that is un-used and plugged. It it accross from the orange solinoid on my car.

It's hard to tell if the 85 vacuum stuff is the exact same as an 82. I don't seem to have that black thing above it, that is in your pic.

If its idling rough and or stalling and you are looking for a vaccum leak. I would look on the passenger side and look at the anti-afterburn hose. This hose goes from this valve to the intake but is close to the exhaust. I have had these get soft and crack and cause rough idling stalling.

I believe that should go to the plate that sits under the carb. The hose with the green barrel on the left?

I have an 84 S that is stock so mine should be the same.

Went out and stared at my rats nest with a copy of the vacuum hose routing diagram and your photo.

If I'm looking at your photo right, that capped stub should have a hose that leads to a white plastic T fitting where one branch should go to the idle compensator at the bottom of the air cleaner and the other branch should go to the manual transmission vacuum switch (that little puck at the top of your photo).

In your photo a T fitting appears to be at the lower right next to a larger diameter hose.

Thanks for all the replys! I'm still having a little trouble tracing it though. Kansas City REPU, thanks for the pic, do you know if you could get a pic showing right underneath the Vacuum switch?? or anyone else, It's the third one over.

Oh no! You're screwed. That's the dilithium conduit to the ultraphrasmatic differentiator. No wonder the car is running rough. And, it also makes warp jumps difficult.
