its been covered quite a bit, people here tend to like spraying carb cleaner around and wait for the rev's to go up to find the vac. leak. i suppose this works, you could also try those "smoke in a can" things they have them at autoparts store i believe. just let er rip and see where the smoke goes. or just buy a fat cigar and puff away and do the same..

however i cant really see why a vac. leak would cause a idle that high, is it carbed? try adjusting the idle/mixture screw.

g'luck

around the base of the carb and around the intake (make sure to keep it away from the exhaust it is flamable...) you will hear the rpms increase if theres a leak

Just a light spray around anyplace that a leak is suspected. If the leak is sprayed, the idle speed will increase, and the engine will smooth out for a few seconds. Just don't go overboard with the amount sprayed on hoses and such, or any painted surfaces.

I have the same problem. I just swaped a 12A out of an 85 into a 88.5 Samurai. Ran like good for the guy I got it from then a modual went out. The guy did everything to get it running again. What that entailed I don't know. However I have it running and it won't idle down so I can set the timing. I know there has to be a vacuum leak. So I plan on tossing the rat nest and trying to find the leak that way frist. But I would like to hear more on the idle problem. I have been searching the achieve. Also the thottle is slow. I mean, I hit the gas and the RPM's climb slowly.

Thanks
