Get rid of them both, cap the fitting on the manifold. Leave the dizzy uncapped, if you cap the fittings on the dizz it will keep the mechanical advance from fully advancing the timing.

also can i just cap it at the rats nest instead of tracing them down to where ever they go on the manifold?

Yes, but if you are pulling off the vacume advance, what is the point of leaving the rats nest?

ok so i finally checked my timing since the first time i set it it was set at 1,000 rpm to just a hair above stock setting, tdc

i noticed it was advanced to far at 3,000 rpm so i backed it down,

i also reset the trailing timing

after it was all said and done i cleaned up everything and was ready for a ride,
well it would barely start,

i popped the hood and noticed i forgot to tighten up the dizzy "DUH"

reset the leading and went for a joy ride,

holy **** i only drove about 5 blocks but noticed all my backfire in between shifts is gone!!!!!

insane,

will confirm this tommorow

hell if i know i havent put the marks on my pulley yet,

it looks like i was runnign way to mych advance but if i retarded anymore the dizzy would stop turning because it was as far retarded as it would go,

from the looks of this pulley click here if the yellow marks are the leading and their in 5 degree increments then i would say im running a 10 degree advance at 3,000 rpm

however if the orange marks count as well then im running a 20 degree advance at 3,000 rpm and about 5 at idle

Capping the fittings at the dist. will not stop the advance form fully advancing. Althought you do have more with them connected. Seen it with advance timing light
