Because you have to get new ones eventually . Its just not a job for the average Joe Mechanic. At least thats what I have been told.

PS - I read on here a while ago that the 83s still have the changeable U Joints...Is this right?

Note: The factory Mazda OEM driveshafts from '83-on have non-replaceable U-joints -- you have to buy a new driveshaft if they wear out. The "Aftermarket" ones we offer come with replaceable U-joints installed, and are assembled from all NEW parts.

Thanks Sorrow . I knew I remembered reading it somewhere, I just couldnt remember where.

FYI, there is a local shop here that can replace just the U joints...They charge a lot, but it IS possible...Well, thats what they told me when I asked about it before I broke one anyway . I ended up just getting a whole new driveshaft from my parts car anyway though, lol.
