Typical Pinion Oil Seal Torque Values...
Okay, so I forgot to get an in/lb pinion bearing preload value WITHOUT the oil seal on my Kia dif rebuild. I found a source claiming typical pinion oil seal drag is .6Nm which equates to 5in/lb.
Anybody remember what their oil seal preload value was or can confirm this? Is there a rule of thumb or something?
...KIA FSM calls for 10 in/lb pinion bearing preload (without seal), so I'm looking at adding HALF that value just from the above claimed average seal preload for a total of 15 in/lb.. smells fishy imo. I was thinking like 12, but have nothing to justify that number.

FWIW I just sloshed some gear oil around in there and turned the pinion a bunch to lube things up and see how much it changed preload. Just lubing the bearings thoroughly I reduced preload by 1 in/lb, so maybe that additional 5in/lb oil seal preload isn't so crazy..
