Kind of a NooB rotation question

Hi guys, I know that the 12a engine is supposed to rotate clockwise if looked at from the front of the car, but I'm curious as to what would happen if it was rotated in the wrong direction by hand? Could it cause problems?
Also I think I'm in the right thread section, but let me know if not.

rotating the engine backwards by hand is no problem at all. its not a piston engine

I never understood that with a boinger, what does it matter if you turn it the other way? If you do it slowly i can't see how it would damage anything, if you tried 500rpm ya i could see the cam not liking it and bending some push rods, but thats it

Going backwards is actually a good way to unlock a carbon locked 12A.

I had one seize after sitting a few years, couldn't get it to budge in clockwise rotation, but a gentle nudge backwards loosened it up and it was fine until I sold the car 50,000 miles later.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I didn't think it was an issue, but the assurance is quite helpful.

sometimes a boinger only tensions the timing belt/chain in one direction, so if you turn it the other way, it falls off. one of the many ways piston engines are dumb. they are lazy too, they do like half the work of the rotary in the same time.
