Twin WG Setup -- Boost Soon

Here are some pics of my twin wastegate setup. I originally had a single WG, but my baby didn't spool very quickly (Aug '07). Since that time, I changed turbos from a 60-1 journal bearing to a GT35R ball bearing. I also modded my manifold to accept twin wastegates. I am working on getting the tune right naturally aspirated before I hook up the boost tube and start making HP.

The return locations for the WG outlets aren't optimal -- they should be a little farther down the exhaust pipe -- but this routing was much simpler, and I have enough wastegate area (2 X 44mm dia.), that I don't think boost creep will be a problem.

The guy in the pic isn't me -- it's Dan from Hyperformance here in Fenton, MO. He did the welding, since mine is way too ugly to use on my car (or anybody else's) : (.

Looks way good, i might suggest making a shield for your idler arm? It looks really close to the exhaust!!!

You're a wise man. I think I'll need some protection for the wastegate actuator sections, too. Worst of all are the oil and water supply lines for the turbo. It's an A-Spec T4 GT35R. With those setups, the turbine housing ends up less than 1/8" from the lines.

2 44mm's will be more than sufficient. Good luck with the tuning.

I'm running the OEM GSL-SE rearend. It's lightly modded for roadcourse work, with a raised oil fill hole and full circumference dams at the inboard ends of the axle tubes.

I made 429 RWHP on a Dynojet at about 14 PSI. I had a 0.9 Bar spring on my TiAL 46mm W/G. This was a lot more power than I thought it would make. Even so, I don't have any plans to drag race it (no slicks or sticky tracks), so I figure the rearend will live.

Next time around, I plan to turn the boost down. I want this thing to last.

How did the 430 whp feel ? Seems like it would have been a hand full.

Really nice setup, my new exhaust should be something similar. well as far as piping goes that is. no waste gate here.

As for the idler arm, ditch that whole setup and get the rack and pinion kit from ReSpeed, and you don't have to worry about that little bugger anymore

It felt awesome! It gave me that "I can leap tall buildings in a single bound" sort of feeling. Since I'm not a drag racer at heart, I didn't try any standing start launches, but rolling pulls in 2nd and 3rd gear were more fun than I could have imagined. I'm running 225/50-15 Dunlop SP 9000s, and they handled the power surprisingly well. I've driven some high HP cars like Vipers and Cobra replicars, and mine felt quicker. My setup didn't reach full boost until 4500 RPM, but then it continued to make power until I was afraid to rev it anymore (8500 RPM).

If you're not running a WG, then I assume you're not running a turbo either. Mine's pretty loud. Without the turbo, I think it would be too loud. Both mufflers are straight through 3" Mangaflows -- YMMV.

Yes, the ReSpeed kit looks very nice. If I had the extra cast laying around, I'd do it. On the other hand, my OEM setup works pretty well. I have a replacement recirc setup with the hardened gears, and my steering is so tight, others who drove it thought it was a rack.
