Take the speedometer out and stick your fingers in there and push the numbers around, or if you're really patient put a drill in the hole in the back and put it in reverse and sit there for a few days... goes back about a mile every 30 seconds

There is screws at the back of the cluster,i put a small piece of copper wire through one of the little holes in front. While pushing it forward with my hand from the rear, and pulling lightly from front. If you take out the vent pipe underneat the cluster, you can see the cluster, makes all easier!

I was thinking about turning mine back to zero for a little while when I put the new engine in. I dont plan on selling it anytime soon, and I would rather have a true record of how many miles are on the new engine rather than the past 2 that have been in it combined.

Mine was turned back. The previous owner set the mileage at 36,000 as to the mileage of the 2nd engine, which he bought at 36k miles, and had rebuilt. When I bought my car it had just over 40k miles. It's not too hard to take the guage assembly out. If you look at the dash, you will find all the screws to take it apart.

ok you guys realize the odometer is there to measure how many miles are on the CAR, not just the ENGINE. It could be on its 5th engine but the body is still the same and still has that many miles on it. Just write down what the odo said when you put the new engine in to keep track of it.
