For reference there are at least 3 huge threads on Turboing a 12a in the Archives.

Thanks for posting that Doc. I hear so much BS from all these people who have NEVER even attempted building a blowthrough setup. Anything can be turbocharged. It comes down to tuning and realiability issues that kill most of these over night projects. I spent 9 months getting all my parts, fabbing 95% of everything myself, all of the mockup, all the install, and all the tuning myself. I am not scared to mat the throttle at any given time. I set realistic goals on what a boosted stockport 12A was capable of, and stuck with that plan. I also live with the fact that I have no choke anymore, or my cruise control. But these were sacrifices I was willing to make. I now have a fun and reliable setup that I am not ashamed to pop the hood, because I took my time to do it right the first time.

you can also do a draw thru set up... and not have to turbo prep the carb just have to get the right tune on it for the turbo... the down side is its hell on a turbo but it atomizes the fuel way better..

you can also do what i said b4 and build a air tight box around the carb. it makes the air psi 1:1 and it dose not need to be turbo preped only tuned for the extra air...

woot

Your right,I forgot about that.Only real hangup would be running the cables and anything else that had to exit the carb, line vacuum and oil lines.

Oh,and EFI doesnt have to expensive.
Provided you want a 13B,the factory TII EFI is cheap, easy to setup and good for power that most 1st gens will only dream of.

OK been doing alot of reading... and I've seen mixed things about the "boost prep of a mikuni" (what little there is on that topic). Some say it doesnt need any while other say that boost preping was done.

If Ive got fresh gaskets on it, and i am premixing so I'm plugging the nipples for the omp, the only other leak source I see is where the throttle linkage comes through... and the choke. I dont use the choke so I'm going to remove it and plug that as well. This would leave just the linkage as a potential boost leak.

Is loosing whatever amount of boost from the throttle linkage bad enought to attempt some method of sealing it? If I leave it as is... is there any danger involved other than a minimal loss of boost.

Please Gods of carb heaven shine your light on this one. This is the only topic that I'm fuzzy on so far.
