turbo
This is my first post and I don't know alot about rx 7 but I've wanted one since I was little. I wanted to know is it possible to turbo a first generation with out spending alot on internals and with out have the engine crap out. Where can I get a turbo manifold first gens also. One more just so I have it clear 12a is first gen 13b is secound gen. Sorry for my ignorance.

u should read the archived stuff and the "post-it", it will explain most of the stuff you want to know about.
12a = non gsl-se 1st gen,
13b = gsl-se 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen (and some pre 7 rx model)
you can turbocharge a 12a, just do a search, you can fit a T2 (2nd gen turbo) e-manifoil and use the 2nd gen stock turbo in a blowthrough setup, watch for the guy named 680WHP12A or something like that, he has a 680 whp 12a and he sells intake manifoil from 12at (wich wer only sold in elsewhere)
another alternative is to drop in a 13bT (T2 engine, ~200hp @ 6-7 psi) or a 13b-re engine (the -re are from cosmo in japan, they are twinturbo, and produce 230hp @ 11psi)
and the internals will take it as long as there is not too much heat and there enough fuel delivered.

You can turbo a 12a, I did it. With a side draft carb and modified S4 turbo exhaust manifold. You do not have to modify the internals at all. You do, as stated above, need to make a place for the oil return line, and you should eliminate the the oil metering pump and run pre-mix. Another thing you "should do" is install a high pressure oil regulator yadda yadda.
Now doing a T2 swap will involve a custom driveshaft if you use a T2 tranny, and will need to modify the first gen tranny mount. There will also be an alignment issue with the T2 shifter in the interior of the car (which can be fixed, there is archived thread) Now if you use the first gen tranny with turbo 2 motor you will need the N/a flywheel and clutch to work with the tranny and a rear counter weight specific to the T2 motor you choose. And you still need to make an oil return line and location in the front cover because you still use the first gen front cover. Since you use the first gen front cover you should still run pre-mix.
Then you need to decide if you are going to use a carb, or fuel injection for your fuel delivery, and then design you fuel system accordingly.
Good Luck
