troubles with my new engine

Yesterday, i installed my gsl-se 13B into my 83 GS. The installation was long, but quite easy. I have a Dellorto DHLA48 on the 13B, when i started the engine, it made a lot of backfires and flames. The idle doesn't stand...

I'm running 6 ports wide open, i put epoxy on the intake manifold.

The engine is running good, and there is no leak on the engine, pilot bearing is new, spark plugs are new, oil filter is new, everything is new, engine has a lot of compression.

The other problem i had, with the choke. With my 12A, the choke was ON until the engine is hot and then it turn OFF, but now, i have to handle the choke, and it doesn't seem that the choke works.

My friend who has done the swap with me has a lot of experience with rotaries, and he is sure that the problem is that i run 6 ports opened, and that i should get actuators and sleeves.

when i started the car, the new 13B Header turned RED! but the engine was fine, no white smoke, it was just normal, but the problem might be the choke, and the 6 ports wide opened ?

What do you guys think about that?

there is a sensor on the back of the waterpump housing that controlls the choke. you didnt hook that back up most lilely because the SE motot has a different sensor.

just get a piece of wire and loop it instead of tring to plug the sensor and the choke will stay out like it used to. the only difference is that it wont automaticlly shut off like it used too, you will have to push it in manually

My first guess would be that your timing is either off or you have some of the spark plug wires crossed. Either one is very easy to do during an engine swap. I don't think that the lack of 5th and 6th port sleeves should cause any problems.

I know when my header turned red, it was cause my timing was off and I was running WAY TOO LEAN.

RXcetera told me that i may have a vacuum leak on my intake manifold..... he is pretty sure that it's the problem why the idle doesn't stand.

hummm could it be that i didn't put anything on the Oil metering hoses on the engine, there is 4 instead of 2 for the 12A. I plugged the 2 on my dellorto, and the 2 others open with vacuum i think? Maybe this could be my problem?

Are you premixing or just not injecting any oil at all? that motors not going to last long without oil metering or pre-mixing.

2 of 4 are connected to my dellorto

the 2 others, the one on the top of the engine, the hoses are cut, do they plug on the intake or what?

I am not premixing.
