Tps 13b Gsl-se, 12a

Aside from the mounting position, does anyone know if there is any difference between a TPS from a 13B GSL-SE 6port and a 12A? Was wondering if they could be used in either vehicle if the proper mounting bracket was fabricated?

Don't want to shell out $170 for a new one for my SE. Any help would be appreciated.

Can't answer about the 12a similarity, but I do know that you can interchange the S4 one by swapping brackets.

Hit the 2nd gen parts for sale section. You will find more tps's for sale there, usually in the 20-25 buck range.

Thanks guys. I asked some rotary mechanics I know and it seems that the consensus is that they are interchangeable.

Problem now is that the one from my SE was actually fine. When I tested it, My multi-meter was f#@%'ed! I got a new one and found that my TPS is within specs.
(I thought my TPS might be bad, cuz my SE (84) started surging when she warms up).

I 've already removed the throttle body and cleaned the rods controling the butterflies to eliminate that possibility, but I'm still having the same problem!

Just discovered that when I remove the electrical connector for the Vent and Vacuum solenoids, then plug them back in the idle is fine! Going to try testing them and cleaning the BAC to see if that will help.

Wish me luck!

Looks like the vent and vacuum solenoids are A-OKAY (that's a relief as I hear they're not cheap)!

Looks like it's time to test the BACV.

Exclamation

AAAArrrrrrgggggghhhhh!!!!!! BACV's working too?!? I for the life of me cannot find out what's causing this @#$$^!!@!#!! surging!!!!! The only thing I can think of is a vacuum leak somewhere?

Does anyone have any idea why the surging would stop when I unplug the vent and vacuum control solenoids?

Tonight I let her sit for a few hours then fired her up when she was cold. She rev'd high so i reset the fast idle cam which lowered the rpms afterwhich she started surging. As soon as I unplugged the connector to the vent/vacuum solenoids the idle smoothed out and remained smooth even after I plugged the connector to them back in?????

The surging or erratic idle only occurs during warm up, and given the fact that I've lubed the hell out of the throttle shafts (throttle body on and off the engine) I'm pretty sure they're not the problem.

I just don't get this sh--t!

Sorry, meant to say: Vent and vacuum solenoid valves...........NOT vent and vacuum control solenoid...... (i.e. the barrel shaped things are what I'm talking about).
