Hey guys, I appreciate the feed back. So I'll definitely be getting rid of this strange oil filter set up, but I'm honestly not too sure where I would begin such a process. Is there a guide I can follow to see what a proper oil filter set up should look like? And what about the strange Oil Filter at the rear of the car? Someone suggested it might have been an oil filter retrofitted on the gas line as a gas filter due to the car having an old gas tank?

Filter at back of car is obviously an oil filter with all oil film present.I can't see enough detail in your pics of origin and destination of oil lines from engine. Maybe some better pics to answer your question. Lay down in front of car and take a picture into grill opening near bottom of radiator. Your car should have an oil cooler directly underneath radiator with two metal braided hoses going to engine-originally.

I still disagree on this. OP has added more pics and there are no non-OE lines shown under car. I mean -- there are no oil lines shown in the pics running to the rear TP filter. Only the OE hard lines for the fuel system. I think the rear TP filter is replacing the OE fuel filter. It's in the spot the plastic fuel filter should be.
Up front, is that an adapter placed between the Fram and the pedestal? With 2 lines running off to the aftermarket TP filter? Could it be as simple as just removing that "adapter" and the lines to the TP filter? That would be nice and simple if it was.

The orange thing is a Fram oil filter. They paint the end black now for better grip. I totally agree with the RB-style adapter. That's what I want to see.... can that adapter and the lines just be unscrewed and removed.
OP, can you take a side pic of where that part (with the two braided oil lines) mounts to engine? Also, as GSL-SE asked, is the front-mounted oil cooler (fmoc) where it should be? It is a small radiator-looking cooler mounted under the water radiator. It should have two lines running back to the engine.... one lower front driver side, and one lower rear driver side. That's how they do it on the GSL-SE cars anyway, I assume the early 12A cars are similar. Anyway, if they didnt cut into those lines this whole "TP for your bunghole" setup might be easily removed.
Here's an illustration of a GSL-SE oil system, which should be similar to a 79's. Might help with figuring out what the lubrication system needs to look like after removing the TP filters.
I also found a clear photo of my 85 12a's lines and cooler. I deleted the pedestal beehive and went with a '79-83 style lubrication system. You can see the line from the pump on the front of the engine to the top fitting on the oil cooler, and the line from the bottom of the oil cooler goes to the fitting on the rear of the engine. I'm using the AN-10 style steel braided lines you can get from Racing Beat.
You should not need to run any hoses to/from the pedestal.
