todays projects..

ok so today i would like to accomplish one of the following...
!. get the tunrsignals working..
2. pull all the grey interior, and dash out of the red car.
3 swith all my brown interior with the grey.. including dashes..
4. switch both both doors from the red to the black car.( hello manual working windows!)
5.have all 4 plus sign wheels on the black car
6. pull fuel pump off the red... its a holly red if anyone is interested....
sit and relax and have a beer... lol
now the bad.... i dont have a headliner for the black car since the red car doesnt have a sun roof, and the red cars carpet is in terrible shape... but just the front seat area.. and door panels are in bad shape.....
anyone want to help haha?! i think im going to have problems with getting the dashes out cause i remember a few years ago when i did this same project with my 83.. same situation except all that i didnt have was the headliner... so i left it red as well as the top part of the dash... ok well wish me luck...

if you have one in decent shape, save that bastard for yourself.....THEY ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND. And, if you have a whit one and it isnt totally dried out, try airbrushing it.

SEM paint, (found at your local autobody paint supplier), has a near perfect color to match the S3 gray. Take a look at my widebody build pics, most of the the interior has been painted. For the headliner, take an unfaded gray sample, door panel or a seat to your local auto upholstery shop and buy a matching headliner material. Then the fun starts, stripping off the old and glueing on the new. Use 3M 90 spray adhesive.

Take a door panel with you then, It's not that hard to recover just the top vinyl strip. My problem was I couldn't find a matching pattern for the seats. My door panels were mint but the seat fabric was worn down to the nubs. Oddly, not a single tear in the seats, just really thin fabric.

yeah looks to be a pretty easy job to fix, since it is straight across.... my 81 was the same way.. the seat fabric was super thin.... it seemed that every time you sat down it would tear some more!...
well back to work... got a new beer and im ready to get started on that dash.... got a guy comming to help out... and take the car away.... i hope we get this done befor too long. is hot out there!!!!

The 3 across the top of the daxh are a pita. When I did my first dash removal, it was tiny turns with an open end. You could try a 1/4" drive ratchet/socket or an offset ratcheting box wrench.

well this is how it ended up going....
and then...
and then there was one... with lots of extra parts....
so all in all today was very productive....i go tthe full interior, including dash, two doors, back glass hatch, fuel pump, back bumper, and all the wheels...and sent the car off to be a drag car... next... the remval and install into roxanne.... bleh.

yeah no i understand what you mean, any idea if a silencer would help with the noise? i mean it'd take away from the preformance but for daily drives it wouldn't be bad. and yeah a soundclip would be great thanks man

well the "mufler" came with a silencer... but i took it out, and it was a completely different feeling car.... sound and feel. with it in it was kinda higher pitched, now it sounds alitle more beast like, seems to have a diff. throtle response.... oh there is a presilencer right after the header...i completely forgot... not sure on how the pipping was done.. it was done befor i bought the car... but the guy said he spent like $500+ on it... i like the sound. but it will be off soon.... im bout to drop a turbo on the 12a!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im so excited.. i hope to have it done by at least aug.

so iv been tearing out the dash today, got the grey one in just got the bottom parts left all the hard parts are done... i still really want to make an alluminum dash for her.... i pulled alot of the ac stuff out except the part in the middle since it was hookup to a line in the engine bay.. i dont have another car to use to get something for a block off. so that will stay for now.. taking a litte beer and pizza break then back to working on the dash... then the rear carpeting, the the headliner.... almost done!!!!!! the next week im going to finish the paint job... the all my money goes to the new motor!
