Tire choice help...

So I posted a thread in the Tire Wheel Suspension forum and get no attention. here is a link.
https://www.rx7club.com/suspension-wheels-tires-brakes-20/help-chose-my-tires-848026/
Basically I'm trying to chose between these two tires:

(a.) Falken Ziex ZE-912 from Discount tire

(B.) Sumitomo HTR 200 from The Tire Rack

Thanks

The Sumitomo is a widely used tire on our vehicles. If you search this section with the term HTR 200 or Ze 912, you will find info on this.

I was going to get the Kuhmo Ecsta XS. Its fairly cheap and has good reviews.

I had some Falken 912's...but were installed incorrectly and they blew out, so I can't comment on that too much.

I'm on my 3rd or 4th set of the Sumitomos. With all the autocrossing I do, I go through a set about every 18 months. You can't beat them for the price.

As far as performance goes, in races I've been less than half a second behind Miatas on race rubber, so that ain't too shabby. I'm running the 215/50/13s on 8" rims...

I have the HTR200 and really like them. They are the best tire in the rain from the few I have tried over the years...But they are kinda loud/noisy on concrete highways.

Kentetsu,

I've been curious about my tires since I was introduced to my car last October and have also had zero luck on the tires/wheels forum. I've never bought tires for mine but the tires that came on the care were very new and are "Federal Super Steel 635". I'm assuming these are close to garbage? I wouldn't know what a quality or crappy tire feels like since I've only driven on these. How do my Federals stack up to a Sumitomo or similar?

I'd stay away from Discount tire. I've had issues with them on pricing and reimbursements for damages that I shouldn't have. The Tire Rack is awesome, on the other hand.

tires

You don't say what size you are looking for or if you want street or autocross tires.
I just got my 225/50-15 Kumho Exta V710's from tire rack at a special price for autocross. ($156 each)
I will be getting the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport (Ultra High Performance Summer) in the same size for street. ($99 each)
Obviously this requires Konig Rewinds in 7x15 or equivalent.

I'm running stock SE wheels with stock size 205/60R14 "Federal Super Steel". Looking to keep same wheels and stock tire size in a street tire. Occasional track use with everyday street driving.

tires for use on Konig rewinds 15x7. Got the rewinds from discount tire shipped FAST. also they were the cheapest place I found.
I've been leaning to the Sumitomo HTR 200. Not going with a more expensive tire right now because I have a bubget time frame issue. I'm trying to do as much for my money before I drive to my brothers wedding. after that time isn't as big an issue so I can save more. most of the money is ear marked for ReSpeed goodies. Thanks for the advice guys
