time to pack it in

Came off a light today, wanted to get in the other lane, figured I shouldnt have a problem. I figured wrong. I got my *** handed to me by a late 80s cutlass cierra. Whats the point, my car is a joke. So its time to get rid of it. If anyone in northwest ohio needs parts, let me know. good doors , fenders, hood, spare bumpers, spare hood , racing beat exhaust and suspension, tokiko blues, racing beat intake manifold, edelbrock performer (3 months old) reverse glo gauges. I'm just to frustrated to deal with it. It still runs, goes down the road, gonna need brake pads soon, somethings loose in the front end and theres an axle seal leaking (left side) I may as well sell it for parts. who would want a car that cant take a cutlass sierra off the line :[

as far as the suspension, I'll have to see how hard its going to be to pull off.....I'm actually hoping I can find someone close who might be interested in taking the whole thing so I can get it out of here
but like I said, who's going to want a car that cant keep up with a sierra or even my dads late 80's caravan

You're selling it just because it's acceleration isn't the greatest? Didn't you know that going in?

Don't part it out. Sell the whole thing to someone who will appreciate it.

Man, you can't just give up because a cutlass beat you. I have owned several cutlass's in my time and none of them were a joke. Rocket 350 with a rochester 4 stock is not a slouch. Had a 66 Mustang, my first car, got beat by a 66 camaro with a 6 cylinder. Didn't sell the call over it though. Hang in there, nothing corners like a 7!

it wasnt just the cutlass, that was just the final straw. going in, I had no idea the acceleration was going to be so poor. I mean, for the lousy gas mileage I'm getting, I wish I at least had some power. I cant even get out in front of my dads caravan. I hear all these kill stories, I have actually NEVER beat ANYTHING with my car :[ the only way I can get out into traffic is if someone lets me

Must be something else wrong. Nothing personal but I have been killed by a few that embarassed me, but I ain't givving up. Anyway, that was straight line, get 'em in the curves.

All in all Jeff may be right.

the perfect solution would be porting and a turbo, but I cant afford either :[

Porting is CHEAP is you do it all yourself, which really isn't very hard.

so the big expense with porting would be gaskets and seals?

It sounds to me like you're down on typical power. A 12a should run with 80s V6 Cameros and such. Not beat them, but at least run with them. Have you had a compression check? Maybe it's just time for a rebuild.

A co-worker beat me from a stoplight in his dual-exhaust Honda Accord the other day. Yes, I was abit bummed, until he told me that that his accord had 240+ hp. The thing had dual exhaust! I have a basically stock 12A; although it has a RB streetport exhaust and a lightweight flywheel on it. I'll have to look into possibly having Sterling mod one of my carbs for me! Besides, he didn't beat me that badly, really! I do remember looking at his dual exhaust, though, as he gained his lead...lol

You also got think.....some of the guys posting the kills with 1st gen MIGHT be telling a bit of an untruth. Don't believe everything you read about what these other guys are beating.

Not great, but not bad. It sure seems low for such a recent rebuild.
