Unhappy TII Tranny down need some help

Yes I searched and unfortunatly couldn't find anything. I have a TII tranny which I swapped so I don't know if that make a huge difference.

For Starters: I've always had a slight problem going into third and reverse with slight grinding but I always eased into both so it wasn't a big problem. I alsot had a slight noise comming from the tranny sounding like a wirling sound that increased as I reved higher.

What I did: I was cruising around the local highway doing about 75 in 5th gear just takin it easy. My exit is comming up soon so I go to try to downshift to 4th and it dosn't wanna go in gear...at all. It's as if somthing was blocking me. I attempt to put it back in 5th and with my desperation I accidentally put it in 3rd. Not a big deal since I was slowing down and eased into the gear. I take the exit and stop at a light. When I go to take off it goes into both first and second but won't take 3rd,4th,5th at all. Same problem, it's as if somthing was blocking it.

I go straight home, park and turn off the car and test all my gear with the clutch down and up. Still won't take 3,4,5 and it turns out it won't take reverse either.

My uncle (the rotary mechanic who built my engine and has done most of my mech. work) says it's weird because the tranny was almost new (which I doubt because of the 3rd and reverse thing since I've had it) and that he'd probably come check it this weekend.

Did I do somthing wrong? What could be wrong? What steps can be taken so that this doesn't happen in the future?

I really need this car for next week (it's my DD and I start school next week) so any help would be greatly apreciated.

I also have an extra tranny I might be able to throw in there if it's a big prob. just in case. It should be the same model I just took it out because it squeeled to loud.

Anyone have any ideas? Or even pointers on how to get the squeel out? I really need some help guys!

TIA

Another great end to a horrible story. Again my father solves this problem with brute force. I have NO idea what was wrong with the car but whatever it was it's back to normal.

My father got home about 5 mins ago and we took a lap around the block. He forces the tranmission into every gear..with unparelled force and ends up fixing the problem. Not suggested but if it's a last resort in this type of situation you really don't have much choice left.

Hopefully I'll be swapping out the fluids soon, to my father's dis-aproval he thinks tranny fluids last forever (he isn't right is he?)

Try Redline oil in the gearbox. I had a TII box that would grind like hell into 3rd gear. Redline completely fixed it.

Does the shifter still spring back to center? If it doesn't, then the spring part that broke off jambed in the shifter cup. Keeping you out of the right hand side gears. Sounds like your Dad 'shifted' it out of the way. Pun intended

Is it a TII Transmission modified to fit an FB?

Using the FB tailhousing and cut shifter Rod?

Custom Driveshaft?

FB tailhousing same shifter rod. I already cracked the shifter surround on some hard 2nd and 4ths. Everything else was either cut out a bit, streched, made fit, or otherwise removed all together. Tranny mounts were a real bitch...

Sounds like the new hole on the shifter rod was not drilled where it needed to be. If it was off by even a little bit, you will experience these symptoms.
