TII tranny

Quick question:
I blew my GSL-SE tranny. I have a spare TII tranny sitting. Can I swap the tail housings and pop it in the GSL-SE? Can I use the GSL-SE flywheel, clutch, and starter on the TII tranny?
Need to hear from someone who has actually done it.

You'll need to rework the starter holes to make an NA starter/flywheel combo work with a TII trans. The flywheel will be farther away from the gear on the starter. You'd also have to swap tailshafts and modify the shifter rod a little bit.

I'm not sure if I understand what you are saying.
Will my GSL-SE starter bolt up to my TII tranny and fit up next to the GSL-SE flywheel properly? Or do I need to make a combination of parts to get it to match up?
I have a TII flywheel and starter, but I really wanted to keep my GSL-SE clutch. It's basically brand new.

I'm not getting rid of mine, just thought that I might use one in my GSL-SE also.
If you need one, Sam at Atlanta RX7 has it in stock and ships them also.

Thumbs up David Try this

David It could be done, it's a little headache but it's worth it. You need to find a Rx3 or Rx4 bell housing, take your turbo II bell housing of, it will interchange with your Rx3 or 4 bell housing, just swap them. before u swat them. u need to grind 1/2 inch on the input shaft splines on your turbo tranny, at this point put your Rx3 or 4 bell housing on. Racing Beat sells a 225mm bronze clutch with a turbo II centre spline, just buy the clutch and use the factory gsl-se pressure plate. The drive shaft will have to be custom made buy your local driveshaft shop. turbo II output shaft is larger. Take your factory tranny mount and use it on the turbo II tranny. just a little more modification on the mount,(take the original holes on the factory tranny mount and slot them) a little more mods on the tranny crossmember, and you should be done. the rest is a little cosmetic work by the shifter hole in your rx7. As u see it could be a headache but is all worth it, when u could rev your beast very hard and dump the clutch and not have to worry about your tranny going pop!!! you will solve your tranny problem but other problems will arrive. like a broken axle every so often...

I am not going to go through that much work at this time. I really want to keep my clutch, and I'm not drag racing. I have plenty of N/A trannys that I can stick in their that won't cost me anything, so I am going to stick with the N/A tranny in there until I change motors. I will just stick to my original plan and put my TII tranny in my vert in the next couple of weeks.
