Thumping Noise???

I'm getting a thumping noise coming from my back passenger side wheel. If I hit a pot hole it usually thumps once on the way down and once on the way back up. Shock? Wheel bearing? Gas tank hitting something (replaced fairly recently, can't remember if it thumped before)? Exhaust? Take a wild guess before I tear the rear end apart to change the bearings.

Shock bushing possibly. Axle bearings usually make noise at certain RPM/speed, not just on bumps.

I doubt it the wheel bearings, my experience has been that you will get a constant thumping/clicking that changes frequency with the wheel rotation speed. Sounds more shock or spring related to me..

Make sure that something wasn't left loose when everything was replaced. You may want to check the exhaust mounts while your under there.

Yup check your lower rear shock mounts. Replaced mine and a few weeks later one was loose enough to remove by hand!!! I guess I missed that one with the torque wrench!

It's kind of an odd thump. It doesn't even have to be much of a pot hole, just a little unevenness in the road and the back of the car repetively thumps. Even road, no thumping.
