I need to have some body and paint work done on this 1980 Rx-7. There are two rust spots under the rear spoiler (one has caused damage to the paint that runs through the pin stripping), a dented rear ground effect with paint damage, but gold area may be able to be kept, and cracks in the front ground effects.
I’m planning on taking it to a custom paint shop and having them fix those spots and maybe correct / improve the clear coat to give it a deep wet black look.
in doing so, I’m considering having all of the gold from the ground effects and pin stripping removed and just go with pure high gloss black.
not sure what I want to do with the rims yet.
so, my question to the group.
1. try and save the gold - not sure if they can match it, but can at least look into trying.
2. go with the all black approach Appears to be rust under the fiberglass and paint causing it to crack Something fell and dented in the ground effect and scrapped off the black paint Appears to be rust under the fiberglass and paint causing it to crack And has ran down and destroyed the paint Front effects have a few small cracks but nothing major. Guessing he hit a curb or driveway due to the very low clearance.
