Lightbulb Things to replace my ashtray with?

Like much of the population, I am a non-smoker and don't really have a use for an ashtray. Has anyone replace the ashtray on their FBs with anything else? Any ideas? I don't have a turbo, so a boost gauge isn't necessary yet. Ideas?

Too bad its not an SA, then you could get a Miata cupholder, great for
those long trips. They replace the stock SA ashtray perfectly.

LOL!! Okay I got enough ideas. I think I'm going to use the original ashtray, despite as awesome it would be to get my hands on one of those JDM ashtrays or passenger seat ejector buttons.

I Use that are for my switch pannel. Gauges would look nice there but not exactly functional the last thing you want to do while driving fast if have to take your eyes off the road too look down where your ash tray was imo a little unsafe.

I guess it depends on which year FB you have. I would go with a simple iPod dock connector in mine. (84/85 dash)

The previous owner bent a bunch of the bracketry in mine to fit an aftermarket DIN stereo. I'm thinking about making a whole new panel there and ditching the Ash Tray AND that stupid "pocket under radio." Then I was going to do a rows of 3 gauges like Oil Temp, Fuel Pressure, Etc.

I just saw this and can't recall exactly from memory, but I think my 85 model may have enough room for this. And that would be friggin sweet cause 100 degree heat with no AC and no 44 oz coke is pretty miserable. All mine has in that area is a couple coin holders, no window switches or anything. I could cut out a hole in the console and put that in. Do you have the approximate dimensions for the cupholder? And what year miata did that come from?

Sorry for hijacking, but that's a GREAT idea.

Its the same dimensions as an SA ashtray Not sure of the dimensions exactly or
how you can fit it in an 85 console. Borrow an SA ashtray to size it up and then
if its possible just order it up. Its a for the 1st gen miatas (90-95 or 97?), not up
on my miata specs but its for a 1st gen for sure.
