im lookin for 1st gen owners in the corpus area, ive been a fan of the 1st gens for a while and finally bought one, its an 85 gs i found in orange grove, the car set there for four or five years i think, the tags were from 92 anyway through searching this sites archives i found out how to bring the old rotory to life again, ide like to get together with some like minded locals who can teach me what and how to tweak this car. also i need a fender and door for the drivers side if anyone has some laying around

WOW i was just lookin at the link you sent trochoid, how hard was it to do the wide body kit, i hear it requires cutting fenders out, did you have to? that is definantly the direction i would like to go with my 85.

Welcome to the forum! I too am here in San Antonio! I'm sure Trochoid and maybe Dan Young will chime in on the widebody bit, but I can try. They are quite expensive if you don't do it yourself. If you do all the work (depending on which kit), you are looking at around 2-3k for kit, wheels and tires. This can vary greatly!.

Good luck!

Installing a kit is quite a bit of work and does require the fenders cut. Once one takes the widebody step, give up the rest of your free time and life. lol.

Naw, lately the guys in S.A. have been really happy,

since this is a S.A. thread I will re-introduce myself to myself.

If you have been in San Antonio and involved with rotarys longer than 4 years then you probably know of me and maybe have met me in the Salvage yards.

I am currently located in Cibolo Texas about 8 miles from Randolph AFB.
We (wife, family) first came to S.A. in 1995. I am Active Duty Army (nurse). I did 3 years here went to Korea, came back did 3 more years, went to Iraq, came back did 2 years and now I am at this point. For the last 2 years I have not been able to do as much rotarys as I have wanted because the Army said I should be a recruiter. At least I got to recruit Doctors and Nurses, well it is a very hard job with very long hours that has a lot of traveling with it, heck even with the travel I did not get to look up people as I had no time. Recently I received a promotion and a new assignment, I will as of Feb be working back at the hospital at Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio so this means I will have more time to devote to my 2 passions, my family(first), Mazdas(second)

What do I have........... Well for those of you rotorheads my personal shop is the ultimate playground. Remember this is 10+ years in the making and we only bought the shop this year. I have a 12k (yes 12 thousand) sq ft total space shop on 3 acres. We current have "at the shop" either in "my collection" of for parts.(now this is a total count)

R100s (6), Rx2 (2), Rx3 (7), Rx4 (7), Cosmo (6?), REPU (9?)
Rx7s (SA/FB) 10-15?, Rx7s (FC) 10?, Rx8 1

This does not include all of the boxes and boxes of parts. Nor does this include the other 15-20+ cars that I have scattered all over the country.(WA, CA, AZ, mostly KS)

Is this a business......... NO... it is a collection, I do have to pay for my collection and for the shop so i do sell parts I don't need, I do help people find parts, I do pass on the information I have learned and try to help people but it is not a business. I do have a business name so that I can get tax breaks and so that I can get parts cheaper, if you need something from Mazda come talk to me I can get it cheaper than walking in(does not mean faster though). I have excellent working relationships with some of the other rotary shops around the country.

The ground rules.... do not come over to the shop without calling first, I have had expensive stuff walk away, I don't want hard feelings if something disappears and you were the last person there before I noticed it was gone. Also I am not a repository for everyones junk cars I have enough of my own, do I buy cars yes do I use them up sometimes, but I can't let you part your car out on my property. If you left your car with me 5 years ago and I told you repeatedly to come get it and gave you multiple deadlines, don't expect me to still have it. I will do my best to treat you right but everyone has bad days and no one is perfect, if you have a problem talk to me we are adults and can work it out. A second part of this is, your right I do have alot of stuff but I know what it is worth don't think that you are going to get an FD chassis off of me for 2$. I am pretty content to let people set their own prices on the common stuff but if it is rare or tabbed for my own collection I probably wont sell or it will be expensive.

Well that is about it. This is too long. Here are some pics my daily driver, my shop and my latest car Rx7 #88(yes 3/78 production #88)
