temp. sender unit

Where is the temp. sending unit located. I found the wire that is supposed to hook up to it but I can't find it. On the radiator I see the coolant level sender with one wire and then another unit coming from near the thermostat cap with two wires.

wrong dont tell him that he will never find what he is looking for. the corect location is on the water pump neck. the sensor that is under the oil filter location is the oil presure sender.

wow. you've got me all confused now. and obviously others. your right though. the oil pressure sending unit is right under the oil filter. no doubt about that. yet if you find that, look to the left and up an inch or 2. that is the water temp. sending unit. the one on the waterpump is a water temp switch. i'm not sure what it does, assuming it has something to do with the stock choke. anyways, i hope this helps.

yeah the temp sender switch is for the stock choke

any idea what the temp is for it? im too lazy to dip it in a pot of water on the stove and test it with a multimeter
maybe its a good temp for my electric fan? if not maybe a sender from a diff car would bolt in for the same purpose? hrmmmmmmm

i would think it would give power or not until the engine was warm enough not to use the choke. so i don't think it would be too good for a fan. unless you want it on all the time( or off).

Sorry to disagree. Please dont mess people up ok? The one behind the water pump is the choke drop off switch. Un plug it when your car is cold and your choke is on and you'll see.

yeah, what does that sub- zero thingy do? i was waunderin what that was. i even went to mazda in olympia to find out. they couldn't tell me, they didn't even find it on there microfilm. it wasn't until the other night ( when i was tearin wires out) that i realized what it was . don't know what it does though, unless it tells the sub zero starting thing on the fender to shoot stuff into the carb?

carl you dont have a oil temp sender there also? I have it there on my gslse oil pan on my t2 engine and also had the temp sender on the 12a there as well as the subzero and the level sender. I used the sender from the 12a pan on the se pan because it came with no senders at all not even a drain plug. as for the temp sensor I did not look at the engine just the diagram real quick. so sorry I am bad. and relooking at my diagram it shows the temp sender in both places, now that confusing. I should stop looking at that dang thing. because I know it where you said it was.

I found it under the oil filter mount. It was covered in a sob of grease in the shawdows. Took about 10 mins to find it. Why did mazda mount the oil filter that wa. That seems like a **** pour design if you want to keep a clean engine.

When you take it off all the oil comes out of the filter because it's upside down

Ah, you dont know the trick huh? Punch a hole in teh top of teh filter when you drain teh oil. Let it sit and drain for 1/2 hour or so.

Ok let me figure this out-
I knew this one- the one wire sensor under the oil filter mount is for the gauge.
Didnt know what the one was on the W.P. housing.
Also knew the sensor on top of the Rad. is for low coolant.
BUT what is the sensor in the Rad. on the L.F.?

Rotate the engine by hand untill the oil starts to drain into the pedistal. I did this on my last oil change and didn't spill a drop out of the filter. I didn't need to puncture it either. Am I just weird? Or smart? It's getting harder to tell anymore.

Also "good" oil filters have anti-drain valves.
