hi ... new to this forum. I just purchased a 1979 Limited SA. Its appears all original except its been painted . Its still black , but not exactly the E5 metallic paint code of the original, which i can see the remnants of in a few spots that have chipped( on the moonroof).

anyone know what was different or unique about this SA?. ..... any pictures out there?

Its in pretty good shape for 180,000 km, but was going to start changeing a few things ... unless it really should be restored / kept as best as possible to original. Has air ( not working), moonroof, waffle alloys, but not too many other obvious upgrades?

There are a few threads about the 79 Limited Hit the seach again.

Mine http://www.matthewnanney.com/1979LE.htm

The 79 Limited had different wheels. Badges, Glass sunroof. Digital Clock in the cluster. Production was 3000.

Ok, I have heard alot of people describing the differance between a '83 gsl, and a 83 gsl-le. I was told when I bought my '83 that is was a GSL-LE. I don't have any LE badges on the car. But, the car was repainted when I bought it. The vin #is JM1FB3311DO749650. Is there anyone who can give me a deffinant answer on this. I here people describing the options that came on the le's that year, and it seems to fit my car to a tee. My car has, AC, PW, PM, Cruise, "Bee Hive" oil cooler, lsd diff, Disk brakes all 4, Sunroof, and I am sure I am leaving some stuff out. I recently had to replace my radiator, and Advance said the radiator I needed was for a '84. The one they showed me for the '83 was wat too short. O'well, if anyone can help clear this up for me, I would appreciate it.

Yes, sounds like a GSL. The 83 LE looks like what MattG has in his avatar and what Hades12 posted. They only came in that color interior/exterior and with those particular rims. I believe the LE was basically a GS, so it shouldn't have PW and such.

In 84/85, there is the GSL-SE (what I have). It is basically a GSL with the 13B and a few other differences.

EDIT: K8 is Tornado Silver (same as my GSL-SE came).

Ok, I am confused about the year digit thing. The vin code says mine is a '84, but my tittle says '83. So confused?????

I bet it is an 84. You can look in the door jamb at the build date. You can also tell by the interior. The 84/85 interior is totally different than the 83. I bet you have grey interior. The tach and the speedo will be in the center (one on each side of center) if it is an 84. The 83 has the tach in the center and the speedo off to the side. The 84/85 has more of a angular dash whereas the 83 is more rounded.

thanks .. i know this is the wrong thread to carry this on with but i finished the search and i definately have the '79 limited edition (canadian version .... 220 kph speedo too !) it has the special alloy rims, leather wheel, boot, shift, digital clock, chrome exhaust tips, yadda yadda. ... but not a glass sunroof , its solid and has a latch ......... good carpet, no cracks in dash , MINT condition spare rim/tire .... not bad for 900$ .... love that manual choke, especially right under the digital clock.

anyone know if it would be possible to get the original black paint (E6 i think) duplicated ?

also didn't really see what the originol pin striping would have been ?
