Tell me about my 81 limited edition
I have a 81 rx that i recently came across. the body and interior are immaculate. very little wear and no rust or dings on body. i was wondering if any one knew the facts on this year. I am an FC guy and don't really know to much about the 1st gens. I would just like too know specs, if this year is worth anything or even worth restoring, and if the limited edition emblems on the fenders actually makes the care more rare and valuable.

Ain't no 1981 Limited... There were only a few years that "Limited" editions were produced
Don't know how many1980 10th Anneversary Editions were produced. It was elebrating 10 years of Mazda in the US Market. Available in Red only... Came with a medallion that had a roman numeral "X".
There were 2500 1980 LS models produced. LS is for Leather Sport. Leather interior, available in one of three colors. Black, White, or Red, I think, and a digital clock. I think it may have also had the opportunity to have GSL rear axle.
There were 5000 1983 LE models produced. GS model with special 14 inch BBS styled wheels. Available in one color only. Chateu silver, which looks more like a sea foam green, at least from what I've heard.

Well i'm still not sure the cars the dark silver color, doesn't have the LSD, and the wheels are black with a polished lip, and the car is completly stock. I've never seen a 1st gen with these wheels before, niether one so clean, i was just wondering if i came across a real rare clean gem or just a clean 1st gen.

Pop the hood or open the door and get the date off it. (Labels under the hood and in the door jamb have model year and build date respectively.
Lighting perhaps. I'd need to see the car in day light up close and personal... It is silver, but it looks to have a greenish tint to it.
My eyes are filtering it out due to the cloudy background.

If it has the Chateau silver paint, the bee-hive oil cooler, 14" mesh rims, "Limited Edition" badges on the B-pillars and the 10th character in the VIN is a D it's an '83, not an '81. This would indeed be a genuine Limited Edition.
If the 10th character in the VIN is a B, but the car has "Limited Edition" badges it is a genuine FAKE.

I wouldnt have it anyother way. What would that be? Since im not the real orignal owner? Family owned, I guess, I like that!!! I think ill add it to my sig!!!

Thats cool if i can confirm its model sounds to me like i have an 83 i'll have to check the vin this weekend. If it is i may have to restore it. But the way things are going i may have to consider selling it for my new fc i have. If i do choose to sell, if there is anyone interested, let me know and i will keep you in mind if i choose to sell or part out.
