Tail Light Mod
I have a good idea. What if I were to cut out some circles in some plexy glass, paints it black, and puts it into the tail lights. In the dark, it would almost look like a supra from the back. Tell me you thoughts on this.

Got Boost?
I like the look of the round tails w/ black background, especially the ones on the 99' spec RX-7. Trying to do this with paint alone just won't look right, not to mention that it will cut down significantly on visiblity, so the po won't like it, and you'll be that much better of a canidate for a rear-ending. This is my idea:
remove the rear lights and seperate the outside lens. Now, do like you were thinking and get some plexi-glass, and using the oven mold thenew plexiglass to the shape of the inside of the lens. Now get something that will allow you to draw the holes on the plexiglass. IMO the bigger and more open-looking the better, within the area of the lens. Use masking tape to cover the everthing but the holes on both sides of the plexiglass. Now for the part that I think would make them look good, and help increase visibility.... take the plexiglass to a place where they etch glass, and have them etch both sides of the plexiglass where the holes will be. Then paint the rest of the plexiglass black.
The etched plexiglass will act as a diffuser of light, making the tail light more even across the hole. It will also scatter the light better, so you'll be more visible. Now if you were me, and have some skills designing electrical circuits, I'd take it to the next level, and about 1" - 1.5" back from the plexiglass, I'd place a good number of color LEDs, and eliminate the incandescent lights alltogether, to make the light even more even, and brighter when braking. I'd probably mount the arrays of LEDs on another piece of plexiglass or some other plasitc, and mount them to the lenses using a pvc or abs pipe the same size or slightly bigger than the holes.
Should look similar to the spec '99 tails, I think I might look nice, (hint, hint to those who photoshop.....)
