I'd have to deliver someone a swift kick to the junk if that happened to my car.

It initially used a 2.0L I-4 and graduated into a detuned 944 engine of 2.5L, the 944 came much later, and the 928 had several varying displacment V-8 engines. These were all front engine RWD cars, later the 968 joined this line up replacing the 944. But the 924 was first and pioneered its niche in the Auto Industry.
When mazda began project X602 They wanted a product a cut above the Rx-2's and soforth. Mazda aimed its sights at Porsche They wanted a car that was faster lighter cheaper and more aerodynamic than a porsche. In essence they wanted to say
"Look This is marginally better in every way than a porsche, and guess what its about $5K less!" If you watch Top Gear they compared the two and basically said the same thing. But most people paid the extra cash for better economy and the stuttgart emblem. Many think Mazda copied Porsches design, but Mazda didnt want to copy they wanted to improve what was already there. In essence all of our cars are ripoffs of Porsche............. But I dont like thinking that either So If you see a 924, which is different than a 944 only by the fact 924's had a urauthane ducktail and 944's had a urauthane whale tail, but anyway should you see one remember, You're driving a Porsche Killer!

the 924 isn't as wide, looks really weak, and the 924s came with a 2.5L 944 engine. all non-s 924's were EXTREMELY slow, slower than a stock 12a.

P.S. all 924's 944's made before 85 1/2 have very disgusting VW interior.

Since when was the 924 the first transaxled car? I think my Alfa GTV predated that and there are several earlier than that.

Turbo 924 cars were designated 951 and they actually had some go in them, they were relatively light for the era.

An RX-7 looks no more like a Porsche 924 than many other cars of the same Era. The lines of Nose and Rear are very different from a Porsche 924.

In total sales the RX-7 was more successful, likewise in racing. Unfortunately, RX-7 have disgusting cheap Interiors also.
