Tach don't work when cold

My tachometer doesn't work when the outside temp is below about 60° F. When the car warms up it eventually kicks in, but when it's cold outside it doesn't budge at all.

Any ideas?

Gee, I had forgotten that issue with mine since it has not gotten that cold in the south so far this year. It usually starts sticken when the outside temp. gets down in the forties. But thanks for the reminder.

Yup, same here. It pisses me off sometimes since my choke doesnt work and I am not sure how high I am holding the rpms sometimes. Oh well.

Mine does the same thing, but only when it's below freezing. The solution I found was to warm it up!

same here. Did it back in the summer here in TN so I know cold weather is not a factor for me. It seems to only not work when it is raining outside or just alot of moisture around. It kicks in by the time the engine hit normal operating temp.

Mine does the same thing.. I bought a small aftermarket Tach to put in front of it, and that solved the problem.

Old grease is the problem.

Very common complaint looking at this thread - was reminded of this just the other day. Tach sticks until about 15 min into the drive. It's amazing what you forget about 'cold' weather driving over a long summer!
