T2 trans in FB, working on it now

Well I started working with my T2 trans in my 85. Looks like theres not much to mod at all.. The stock metal part that bolts to the trans has to be remade, maybe.. Its a piece of metal that looks like a big C metal piece, but straight instead of the curves like in a C. Other than that the stock rubber piece looks like it fits fine. It appears its maybe 1/8-1/4" difference. Actually hacking the rubber part a little looks like it would work?

Wheres setzep when I need him, anyone else do this...

Also I dont see the need for the spacers that others have used. Bolt the stock crossmember up there, with the rubber piece on there, and that stock metal piece that bolts to the trans (2 12mm bolts), seems to fit?

Battery is dead in the camera so Im bumming on pics for today....

They why mine is done is i bought some spacers from autozone, for some truck suspension..

You might be able to get rid of/make a new mount for it though.. it is only about 1 inch offf..

You will need to drill holes in the TII mount to bolt it up too..

I dont see the complication, I just used my old 85 crossmember, my piece that bolted to my trans, and the rubber piece trimmed 1/8" and BAM it fits perfect

Yeah all that will be fine with a 13bt, just swap the shifter housing onto the t2 trans, ask about cutting the t2 rod when you get there...

If you swapping to a T2 in October, Id wait. If you go mixing front and rear counterwights, you better be sure they are balanced...

Yeah to change the counterweight, front water pump housing, front cover, oil pump chain etc has to come off..

Yeah, you will need to pull off your front cover and waterpump..

Also be carefull you do not loose/misalign your thrust bearing.

If you go with a 13bt, then swap out the thermal pellet thingy with either an Atkins or Mazdatrix plug.. I didnt have a way to measure end play, when you swap the front and get it back together make sure when you pull the front pulley back and forth you got a SMALL amount of play. I think the end play is .0015-.0018 inches

When you remove the stock flywheel infavor of an aftermarket one that requires the automatic counter weight, you need to use the counter weight FOR THE ENGINE, not the tranny. The flywheel is chosen to fit the tranny, not the engine. IE a T2 tranny onto a 82 12a, would require the 82 12a counter weight and the T2 flywheel and clutch.
