Swapping ECU components between Different Series?

I have a 79 RX7. I like the look of the ECU on the series three better. I can make a custom center no problem. My question is can I make the later model work in my dash?

The ECU sits under a panel under the passenger side carpet... not sure how you can see it, let alone care what it looks like.
