Swap is done...

I'm exhausted. Finally. Put a new starter in and click. ******' 'ell. What the hell?

I'm going with the battery didn't have enough charge to kick it over? Let's hope so. Charging the battery as I sit here frustrated.

While the battery is charging, recheck the connections at both ends of the cables. That way you're covered on the next most likely cause.

Well there are two basic cables. The negative cable and the positive cable. They're both securely connected. Negative to the front of the top bolt on the starter under the oil filter tower and the positive cable to the left bolt on the solenoid. The little tiny cable clips on and that's that.

So. I've come to the conclusion that the engine and transmission aren't aligned correctly. The throwout bearing won't move back and forth at all. Just wiggles in one spot slightly and I can't turn the motor by hand. Me thinks something is off inside the bell housing? Possible?

What motor are you swapping in and with what trans? I think the engine and trans can only mate 1 way? I'm sure you have it aligned correctly. So the clutch pedal won't go down?

Yea, it cranked fine before I put the motor in. This is the stock 13b for 13b in my GSL-SE. I'm just trying to think of any reason it's not turning...

Did you have a hard time mating the engine and trans together?

Well you did put in a new starter. Maybe the wrong one? Try loosening up the bolts and see if your engine turns.

Yea, it was difficult to meet the engine and trans.

Right engine, right transmission, right starter. I can turn the engine by hand one way no problem. Issue is when I go to start it it is spinning the other way and it locks when spinning the other way.

Never removed the transmission or the shifter.

I'm probably going to loosen the mount bolts and engine/trans bolts and rock the engine on hoist a little forward just to hopefully free something up that may be off alignment.

What's crazy is it will spin towards the passenger side all day. Then if I try to start it it will turn as far to the drivers side as I turned it towards the passenger side and then bind again.

Another thing: I can use the shifter to move it in and out of gear. I can push it fine not in gear but once I put it in gear it will not move at all so it is mated. It's just the throwout bearing arm will not move back and forth like it should. It is stuck forward as if the clutch out and not pressed.

I guess you really won't know till you pull apart the trans and engine to see why the fork is pushed all the way forward.

It's hard just guessing at this situation. Maybe the TO bearing is not on the fork right, the fork slipped off the pivot ball....... I'm sure you will tell us when you figure it out. Good luck.

Well I'm gonna pull the transmission and then put it back in. Just to make sure. The transmission is easier to mate than the engine.

had the same prob i just played with the front pulley turning it left and right until it stared turning over. worked great for about 30 miles worth of driving until later that day i was pulling out of my drive way doing about 5 miles an our when the tranny locked up and snapped the bell housings in half
come to find out the ways a 3/8 extension and a 14mm socket wedged on the flywheel oh and it took off a 1/4 of the teeth of the flywheel
